David Will Mitchell And Cole Toury Set to release New Album ‘Conscience – Live in London’

Open Mic Controller | 19th February 2019

If you’ve been a reader of EP for a while then you’ll be familiar with the names of David Will Mitchell and Cole Toury. The pair have worked as a songwriting duo for the best part of a decade now, and have released such beautiful pieces as the EP, ‘The Beaten Track‘, and album, ‘Faraway Places‘. Now the pair have a new album, ‘Conscience – Live In London’, which is set for release on 21 February through all major digital distribution platforms.

Seven tracks long, the jazzy, mostly improvised album draws its inspiration from current events, and discusses issues such as  gender and racial divisions, Brexit, and of course, US President Trump’s proposed wall. The album, primarily featuring piano and sax, is a showcase of not just the duo’s exemplary musical talent, but also their incredible lyrical abilities, with the pair working together to create songs that are not just aurally pleasing, but also work poetically.

David and Cole are perfectly matched: Cole plays the majority of the instruments, and David writes the lyrics, and sings the songs. While their jazz influences are many and varied, it’s clear that their songs of social conscience are inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan, Woodie Guthrie, and Bob Dylan.

‘Conscience – Live In London’, from David Will Mitchell and Cole Toury, will be released on February 21 through all major digital platforms. You can find David Will Mitchell and Cole Toury on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Listen to more of their music on SoundCloud.
