‘Running In Borrowed Shoes’ – Leah Nobel Writes Songs Based On The Stories Of 100 Different People

Open Mic Controller | 1st August 2018

Award-winning US singer songwriter Leah Nobel fuses pop and folk in order to create a timeless, yet cutting-edge sound. The mult-dimensional artist also writes under the name of ‘Hael’, which she uses to craft darker pop music. She’s been featured in ads for Toyota, Apple, and many more.

Her latest project, ‘Running In Borrowed Shoes’, saw Leah interview 100 people from diverse backgrounds, before writing songs based on the stories and themes she uncovered. Walking around with a homemade sign which proclaimed, “Come Talk To Me”, she learned about the joys, hopes, and struggles of people’s lives.

The project was produced by Pete Stewart, a three-time Grammy winner, who’s best known for his work with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. It’s a true art piece, combining journalism, empathy, and advocacy, as well as music.

In Leah’s words,

“We may have different perspectives and experiences but we all want the same things as human beings; love, belonging, purpose and connection.”

‘Running In Borrowed Shoes’ will be out this summer. Leah Nobel’s latest single, ‘Coffee Sunday NYT’, is out now and available to stream and download here.
